Born and raised in the ice and snow of Minnesota, I knew that art was my passion from the moment I first held a crayon. Throughout my school years I tried many different mediums, including paint and photography. I attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where the world of art began to open up to me. I grew skilled in bookbinding, pottery, and fibers but most importantly, I graduated with my Bachelors of Fine Arts with K-12 education certification. Upon graduation and desperately missing the north woods, I moved back to Minnesota and began teaching art at a small alternative high school. I feel so fortunate to have a job that I love and have taught many wonderful young people for the past 8 years.

I earned my Masters of Education degree from St. Mary's University and have continued to take various classes and workshops. Specifically, the lessons at Maureen Carlson's Retreat Center (Jordan, MN) changed my life. Linda Bernstein, through the PMC Connection, helped me gain my Precious Metal Clay Certification (Levels 1 and 2) which allowed me to fuse the art of jewelry with my sculpting skills. Robin Aronson taught a basic glass fusing class where I was completely enamored with the ability to create art with glass. A desire to create unique jewelry was born. It was while helping a student realize his future dreams that I attended glass blowing classes at Foci Glass (now called Minnesota Center for Glass Arts). Instruction by Michael Boyd and the other staff members gave me the courage to take a class in lampwork. This experience allows me to craft my own glass beads. After two classes from Malcom Potek, I rented space in his studio where I fell in love with sculpting molten glass in the flame.

My art work would not be possible without the support of a few very important people in my life. My one-of-a-kind husband of 7 years always encourages me while making sure all of the domestic duties are not a worry. I also have the loving support of my two creative and loving children, my 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son. Finally, I can not forget the constant attention from my 190 lb. St. Bernard, Gus, who is always good for a giant slobbery kiss and our two kitties, Baby and Dexter who love to be right in the middle (and often on top of) my work.

All of these experiences have contributed to the creation of Unique In All The World Jewelry. If you want to know why I chose the name I did, you should read my favorite book The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. This book is inspirational to me and each time I read it I have a deeper understanding of life and what is truly important.

Thank you for looking at my work and I hope you will find something that you can connect with. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me through the link at the top of this page.

"All men have the stars," he answered, "but they are not the same things for different people. For some, who are travelers, the stars are guides. For others they are no more than little lights in the sky. For others, who are scholars, they are problems. For my businessman they were wealth. But all these stars are silent. You - you alone - will have the stars as no one else has them..."
